We love serving and delighting our community with food, drinks, and an intimate setting in the heart of Durham. We use the best of what is grown around us to curate our menu. Originally opened in 2016 and reopened in 2022 after a COVID closure, we serve dinner seven nights a week. Our bar is first come first served and offers the full menu. Reservations are recommended for prime time seatings in the dining room, although walk-ins are welcome and encouraged. The dining room is available for private events for parties of up to 30 guests.
Chef Saca (pronounced say-kay) was born in Belmont, NC, and spent childhood holidays with their grandparents in Durham, where their mom grew up. Moving to Durham in 2020 was something of a coming home for Saca, a welcome return to their Carolina roots following a countrywide odyssey spanning nearly two decades.
After college Saca served as an Officer in the Navy before beginning their culinary career on the salty cliffs of La Jolla in San Diego, CA. There they worked with the highly esteemed Chino Farm’s produce and learned the foundations of flavor on which to build their culinary career. From San Diego, Saca’s journey continued to Nashville, TN; Boulder, CO; and Chapel Hill before landing at Littler in April of 2023.
On their passion for food, Saca says, “I appreciate the anthropology of food and the emotional memories food can hold for us. I want to understand the history behind a dish — how it became a tradition in its culture and then how that tradition perpetuated across generations. I feel strongly that chefs have a social responsibility to protect and the special privilege to teach others about the cultural memories and traditions represented in food. I also believe that we, as chefs, have a moral duty to make healthy and delicious food available for all and that we should support ethical and sustainable farming and food production.”
